    • Résumé :
Told Under Canvas is a novel by French writer Victor Hugo. Victor Marie Hugo (1802 - 1885) was a French novelist, dramatist, and poet belonging to the Romantic movement. He is widely hailed as one of the most accomplished and well-known French writers, originally achieving renown for his poetical endeavours-the most notable of which are the volumes Les Contemplations and La L?gende des si?cles. Outside of his native country, Hugo's best-known works are his novels: Les Mis?rables (1862) and Notre-Dame de Paris (1831), commonly known as The Hunchback of Notre-Dame. Aside from his literary achievements, he also produced over 4,000 beautiful drawings and was a prominent campaigner for social and political issues, including the abolition of capital punishment. This fantastic novel is highly recommended for fans and collectors of Hugo's work. Many vintage books such as this are becoming increasingly scarce and expensive. We are republishing this book now in an affordable, high-quality, modern edition complete with a specially commissioned new biography of the author.

      Biographie:
Victor-Marie Hugo was a prominent French author, poet, essayist, playwright, and politician. Born on February 26, 1802, in Besancon, France, Hugo became one of the most important figures in French literature and a leading figure in the Romantic movement. His career spanned over six decades, during which he wrote numerous works in various genres. Hugo is best known for his novels Les Miserables and The Hunchback of Notre-Dame, which have become staples in world literature. His writing not only explored themes of love, justice, and social issues but also conveyed strong political messages, often advocating for the rights of the oppressed. Beyond literature, Hugo was also involved in politics and was exiled for his opposition to Napoleon III. His works continue to influence writers, poets, and thinkers around the world. He passed away on May 22, 1885, at the age of 83 in Paris, leaving behind a legacy as one of France's most beloved literary figures. His works remain enduring symbols of the struggle for justice and human dignity....

      Sommaire:
