In contrast, concerns with inferiority, shame and self-criticism can have a very negative impact on physical and mental health.
The Compassionate Mind Workbook is a book for anyone with an interest in how compassion - in the form of ideas and practices derived from Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) and other approaches - may help us to understand and, ultimately, try to alleviate suffering.
Using both Buddhist practices and Western psychological science, this step-by-step guide will enable you to build your understanding of yourself, to develop ways to work with whatever difficulties you're struggling with in life and will introduce you to a variety of CFT exercises that give rise to a compassionate mind.
Elaine Beaumont is a Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist and Europe-approved Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing Practitioner. Elaine incorporates Compassion Focused Therapy into her clinical work. She is a part-time Lecturer at the University of Salford, where her research explores the impact Compassion Focused Therapy has on individuals suffering with trauma-related symptoms.
Chris Irons is a Clinical Psychologist for the NHS in London. In his clinical work, he uses Compassion Focused Therapy with people suffering from a variety of mental health problems. Chris is a board member of the Compassionate Mind Foundation and regularly presents to audiences on CFT and more broadly, the science of compassion.
