      • Résumé :
I laughed my tail off right up to the very last page, which I read in a local cemetery for just the right ambience. Hats off to you Tom Strelich. -Tom McCaffrey, bestselling author of The Claire Saga That dystopian future they always warned us about? It turns out we're already in it. What if some of the most decent people alive had been living right beneath your feet this whole time? Hertell Daggett Junior runs a sunbaked pet cemetery on the outskirts of Bakersfield with copper specks in his brain, an accordion he can't play, and more questions than answers. His life is strange. It is about to get considerably stranger. When something begins humming beneath the cracked earth of his property, Hertell uncovers the impossible: a sealed civilization, perfectly preserved since 1963, full of people who sing in harmony and have never once heard a politician say absolutely nothing, with total confidence. But when they step into the sunlight for the first time in sixty years, the world above is not ready for them. The cameras arrive. Then the SWAT team. Then the government, embarrassed and outflanked at every turn, decides to solve the situation in the most aggressively bureaucratic way imaginable. What follows is a wildly funny, surprisingly devastating collision between the world that was and the world that is. Dog Logic is a satirical gut-punch dressed up as a comedy, sharp enough to draw blood and absurd enough to make you laugh doing it....

        Biographie:
Strelich was born into a family of professional wrestlers and raised in Bakersfield, California. His writing career began on a dare from a theatre director, which worked out well since he wasn't a very good actor anyway. His plays have since garnered awards and New York premieres....

        Sommaire:
I laughed my tail off right up to the very last page, which I read in a local cemetery for just the right ambience. Hats off to you Tom Strelich. -Tom McCaffrey, author of The Claire Saga A razor-sharp satire about grief, delusion, and the fragile border between madness and revelation. Hertell Daggett used to be a physicist. He used to be married. He used to understand how the world worked. Then he was shot in the head. Microscopic flecks of copper remain lodged in his brain, and ever since, Hertell experiences reality differently. He hears patterns in chaos. He senses connections no one else seems to notice. Now he lives on the edge of Bakersfield as caretaker of a failing pet cemetery, trying to keep his thoughts-and his life-from unraveling. Until he uncovers something impossible beneath the hills he tends: a hidden community sealed underground since 1963, waiting out an apocalypse that never arrived. When their insulated world collides with modern America, Hertell becomes an unlikely guide through a culture as bewildering as any end-times prophecy. But as he helps them face the present, he must confront his own unfinished past-and decide whether his altered mind is a curse or a strange kind of clarity. Darkly comic and unexpectedly tender, Dog Logic is a bold, satirical exploration of belief, memory, and what it means to see the world differently.
