      Biographie:
      Michael Fesser is a native of Portland, Oregon and is the founder and CEO of Going Home II, an evidence-based re-entry program that has a demonstrated track record of successfully transitioning both men and women out of the Oregon penal system. As an individual having lived life experience in the criminal justice system, Michael has a long history of working with the highest risk offenders, both in and out of the Oregon penal system. Fesser came of age playing basketball at parks and school gymnasiums in and around Northeast Portland, Oregon. By the time he was a high school junior, in his mind, being a man meant having money, and having money meant selling drugs. Fesser turned his life around after a two-year stint in federal prison, but was not content to simply better himself. He started mentoring men who were still in prison, focusing on the difficult transition back into regular life. Going Home II grew out of that mentoring. In developing this curriculum, Pathways to Successful Choices, Fesser incorporated and applied the earlier work of LaVon Van, a business leader and longtime advocate for young people in the Oregon. foster care system. Over time, the Going Home II organization has expanded to encompass a post-prison support group, transitional housing, and restorative justice work between community and police....
