Sommaire: Berlin in the 1930s was vibrant and exciting. Young people from the Western World descended on the city to enjoy hedonistic pleasures and artistic endeavours. Tom Wagner, a barber, lives with, Sarah, his English mother in a Berlin suburb. Sarah is the widow of an ace German pilot killed in WW1. Tom is plucked from obscurity to be the Fuehrer's personal barber. He is a gentle young man with an odd 'closed in' personality. In London the Secret Service is suspicious of Hitler's intentions. An agent Tobias Fox, a Scottish whisky distiller with a talent for the German language, is sent to Berlin to investigate the Fuehrer's plans. The lives of the barber and the distiller collide and there is a frantic race to inform London of Hitler's evil goal. The author, in homage to 'The Third Man' and 'I am a Camera', has injected the famous black-market maestro, Harry Lime and a young author and singer who knew of Christopher Isherwood and Sally Bowles into the mix. The result is an entertaining and spine-tingling romp through wild and dangerous pre-war Germany.
