    • Biographie:
Rick Thomas launched the Life Over Coffee global training network in 2008 to bring hope and help for you and others by creating resources that spark conversations for transformation. His primary responsibilities are resource creation and leadership development, which he does through speaking, writing, podcasting, and educating. In 1990 he earned a BA in Theology and, in 1991, a BS in Education. In 1993, he received his ordination into Christian ministry, and in 2000, he graduated with an MA in Counseling from The Master's University. In 2006, he was recognized as a Fellow of the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors (ACBC)....

      Sommaire:
Dynamic Small Groups equips churches to transform ordinary group meetings into intentional environments for biblical discipleship. While small groups are one of the most common ministries in the church, many lose direction because leaders lack a clear understanding of their purpose. Rick Thomas calls leaders back to a biblical vision of koinonia-shared participation in life with God and one another-where relationships become the context for lasting spiritual growth. Rather than treating small groups as Bible classes, worship services, or social gatherings with a devotional, Thomas presents them as communities where believers encourage, challenge, and help one another follow Christ. He reframes leadership as shepherding rather than teaching, emphasizing humility, thoughtful questions, careful listening, and heart-focused conversations over simply delivering information. Throughout the book, readers learn the essential elements of healthy group life: clear purpose, intentional preparation, Scripture-centered discussion, wise facilitation, and shared responsibility. Practical guidance helps leaders move conversations beyond surface-level discussion into meaningful application while creating an atmosphere where honesty, accountability, and grace can flourish naturally. Dynamic Small Groups also addresses the real challenges leaders face, including inconsistent attendance, dominating personalities, conflict, difficult questions, emotional burdens, and leader fatigue. Rather than offering quick fixes or rigid formulas, Thomas provides biblical principles that help leaders shepherd people patiently while trusting the Holy Spirit to produce lasting change. A central theme of the book is participation. Healthy groups are not built around one gifted leader but around members actively investing in one another's spiritual growth. Leaders learn how to encourage quieter participants, graciously guide stronger personalities, and cultivate an environment where every member contributes to the discipleship process. Ideal for pastors, elders, ministry leaders, and anyone leading or launching a small group, Dynamic Small Groups serves as both a practical training manual and a biblical philosophy of group ministry. It reminds the church that small groups are not designed merely to fill calendars-they are designed to make disciples. When rooted in Scripture and guided by intentional shepherding, small groups become one of the church's most effective settings for cultivating spiritual maturity, authentic community, and lasting transformation.
