      • Résumé :
Where were you when you came of age - when you went from being a child to an adult? Have you experienced this yet? Rob came of age in Saigon in 1969. He learned about love in that foreign country. On December 27, 1967, while on a road trip from California to Florida to surf and find himself, Rob learned he had been drafted. He didn't know much about the war, but was in the midst of the anti-war movement. Rob had flunked out of college, and the road trip was designed to help him find himself, but serving in the military was not one of the options he was considering. As he traveled back to California, he had a decision to make: whether or not to serve. He met many people along the way who would help him make that decision. This was the most difficult decision of his life. He decided to serve, committed to making his experience worthwhile. He spent 14 months in Vietnam in a non-combat assignment in Saigon, from June 1968 to August 1969. He came of age in Vietnam. He met a Vietnamese woman who not only helped him grow but also taught him what it meant to love. Rob was driven to write this story by discussions he had with hundreds of veterans who served during that period....
