Résumé : The use of electric vehicles (EVs) is a topic of great importance, given the continued drive towards net zero and the phase out of sale of new petrol/diesel vehicles. However, a key concern is the need to install enough charge point infrastructure to grow in tandem with increasing EV adoption. Lack of EV charge point infrastructure and range anxiety are often cited as barriers to EV uptake. Therefore, a closer look is needed to understand how to model and build suitable EV charge point infrastructure, and how this can contribute to the broader aim of decarbonising transport. This book provides an overview of the technologies and broader themes which should be understood when taking an end to end approach to EV charge point deployment, from concept through to operation. It starts by highlighting the role EV charge points will play in terms of delivering future transport emissions reductions. The book then takes the reader through charge point planning, installation, operation, and decommissioning. It also examines the development of demand and supply models, key to the planning process, as well as current and future vehicle battery and charging technology advancements which will impact future deployments. Electric Vehicle Charge Point Infrastructure: From planning to operation is a valuable resource for anyone with a vested interest in charge point infrastructure, including EV engineers and charge point operators, and academics focusing on transport decarbonisation, modelling, and emerging trends in transport.
