        This book presents select proceedings of the 7th National Conference on Multidisciplinary Design, Analysis, and Optimization (NCMDAO-7) and the 1st International Conference on Multidisciplinary Design, Analysis, and Optimization (iNCMDAO) held at Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru (IISc) between December 16 and 18, 2024. The conference was organized by the Department of Mechanical Engineering, IISc in collaboration with the Design division of the Aeronautical Society of India (AeSI). This conference was the seventh in an annually planned event to create a platform for researchers in academia, government labs, and industry professionals working in the area of multidisciplinary design, analysis and optimization to share their current work. This year the conference went international with international speakers and participants. The papers covered topics ranging from size, topology optimization to impact of AI/ML on optimization algorithms, transfer learning, and other emerging topics.         Biographie:

        Prof. Palaniappan Ramu is currently a Professor at the Department of Engineering Design, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras. He heads the Advanced Design Optimization and Probabilistic Techniques (ADOPT) Laboratory, which works on design under uncertainties, optimization, visual analytics and data science. He investigates problems of varied interests in different areas. It includes optimal designs of computer models built in FEM/CFD toward light weighting, understanding performance of machine learning algorithms as surrogates, digital twins and visual exploration of design spaces. He holds a B.Eng. in mechanical from Madurai Kamaraj University, India, and Ph.D. in aerospace engineering from University of Florida, Gainesville, USA.
