Biographie:
Josephine Tey (1896-1952) was the pen name of Elizabeth MacKintosh, a Scottish novelist and playwright best known for her contributions to Golden Age detective fiction. Though she wrote only a small number of crime novels, her work is widely regarded as among the most intelligent and structurally innovative in the genre.Tey is best remembered for creating Inspector Alan Grant of Scotland Yard, a thoughtful and psychologically perceptive investigator whose cases often probe motive and character as deeply as evidence. Her novel The Daughter of Time, in which Grant reexamines the historical reputation of Richard III from his hospital bed, remains one of the most celebrated works of historical detective fiction.In addition to her mysteries, MacKintosh wrote successful stage plays under the name Gordon Daviot. Her fiction is marked by clarity of prose, moral nuance, and a refusal to rely solely on mechanical puzzle plotting, securing her lasting place in twentieth-century British crime literature....
