Il Decamerone di Giovanni Boccaccio, soprannominato Principe Galeotto, ? una raccolta di cento novelle raccontate nell'arco di dieci giorni da una brigata di dieci giovani (sette donne e tre uomini) per sfuggire alla peste che imperversa a Firenze nel 1348. Ogni giornata ? dedicata a un tema specifico, e le novelle spaziano dall'amore (felice o tragico) all'ingegno, dalla fortuna alle beffe, offrendo un affresco vivido e complesso della societ? medievale.

L'opera ? celebre per la sua vivacit? narrativa, la variet? dei personaggi e la ricchezza linguistica, che contribuirono a definire il volgare fiorentino come lingua letteraria. Il Decamerone rappresenta un capolavoro della letteratura italiana e un'importante testimonianza della cultura del Trecento, con la sua attenzione alla realt? umana e il suo spirito laico e innovativo.
