Présentation Silent Scars Of Our Land "Unveiling Afghanistan's Mental Health System de Nazim, Sara Format Broché
- Livre
Résumé : Silent Scars of Our Land is a powerful and deeply moving narrative non-fiction book that explores the mental health crisis in Afghanistan through real-life stories, personal reflections, and professional insight. Written in both English and Dari, it reveals the emotional and psychological scars left by decades of war, cultural stigma, displacement, and the oppressive impact of Taliban rule, especially on women and children. The author, a trained mental health professional with Afghan roots, combines her academic knowledge with heartfelt storytelling to highlight the urgent need for culturally sensitive mental health support. Topics include PTSD, depression, trauma, and the silencing of women's voices, while also offering hope through community resilience, education, and faith. The book is not only a social commentary but also a call to action, to break the silence around mental health, empower women and children, and push for systemic change. It is a voice for the unheard and a vision for healing.
Biographie:
I am Sara Nazim, born in Kabul, Afghanistan, and raised in London fromage four. From a young age, I have been deeply fascinated by humanbehaviour, emotions, and the mind, which led me to develop a strongpassion for psychology and mental health. This passion has shaped myacademic and professional journey, inspiring me to pursue extensivetraining and research in the field. My educational background includes a BSc in Psychology and an MSc inClinical Neuroscience, which has provided me with a strong foundation inUnderstanding human behaviour, brain function, and mental healthdisorders. However, my commitment to mental health goes beyond thescientific and theoretical aspects of psychology. Recognising the criticalRole of culture and spirituality in mental well-being, I further specialised inCounselling Psychology and pursued CPD courses in Islamic MentalHealth and Counselling Psychology. This has enabled me to integrateculturally sensitive and faith-based approaches into my work, ensuring thatPsychological support is relevant and accessible to individuals from diversebackgrounds. My experience spans academic research and practical mental healthsettings. I focus on bridging the gap between Western psychology andculturally diverse perspectives. My work explores the intersection ofneuroscience, counselling, and mental health, aiming to create holistic andinclusive mental health support....
