Présentation God Is Love de Keating, Thomas Format Broché
- Livre Sciences de la vie et de la terre
Résumé :
What if the cosmos itself is the first scripture? What if evolution, mysticism, and divine love are not separate paths but the same unfolding mystery? In God Is Love: The Heart of All Creation, Father Thomas Keating-a Trappist monk, contemplative teacher, and spiritual rebel-invites us into a vision of God that is vast, intimate, and alive within all things. Drawing from science, interfaith dialogue, scripture, and silence itself, Keating explores the evolutionary arc of consciousness as a movement toward divine union. With warmth, wisdom, and humility, Keating speaks of God not as distant authority, but as the very ground of being present in every particle, every person, every moment. For seekers, skeptics, mystics, and meditators alike, this book offers a theology of deep time and a pathway to inner transformation. The spiritual journey, Keating reminds us, is not about escaping the world-but about seeing it as it truly is: drenched in love, and longing to wake us up....
Biographie:
Beloved Trappist monk Thomas Keating is best known as one of the primary founders of the Centering Prayer movement, which made the contemplative dimension of Christianity accessible through a simple method of silent, still meditation. He is also known as the convener of the Snowmass Interreligious Conference, which helped spawn the global Inter-spiritual movement. Keating's open invitation to people of all walks to embark on a spiritual journey, coupled with his emphasis on the oneness of all creation, made him a 20th-century harbinger of 21st-century ideals....
Sommaire:
Father Thomas Keating was a Trappist monk, priest, and one of the principal architects of the Centering Prayer movement, which revitalized the Christian contemplative tradition for contemporary seekers. Born in New York City in 1923, Keating pursued studies at Yale University and Fordham University before entering the Cistercian Order in 1944. He was ordained a priest in 1949.In the 1970s, while serving as abbot of St. Joseph's Abbey in Spencer, Massachusetts, Keating, alongside fellow monks Fathers William Meninger and Basil Pennington, developed Centering Prayer-a method inspired by the 14th-century spiritual classic *The Cloud of Unknowing*. This practice emphasizes silent, wordless prayer as a means of consenting to God's presence and action within. To support and disseminate this contemplative practice, Keating co-founded Contemplative Outreach in 1984, an international organization dedicated to teaching Centering Prayer and fostering spiritual growth. His commitment to interfaith dialogue led him to engage with spiritual leaders across traditions, promoting a universal message of inner transformation and unity.A prolific author, Keating's works include Open Mind, Open Heart, Invitation to Love, and The Human Condition, among others. His teachings continue to guide individuals seeking a deeper relationship with the Divine through the path of contemplative silence. Father Thomas Keating passed away on October 25, 2018, at the age of 95, leaving behind a legacy that continues to inspire spiritual practitioners worldwide....
