      Emanuel Haldeman-Julius, born on July 30, 1889, in Philadelphia, was a Jewish-American writer, socialist, atheist thinker, and social reformer. He founded Haldeman-Julius Publications and created the influential Little Blue Books series, which made literature accessible to the working class. His books, covering a variety of subjects from philosophy to politics, sold in the millions and had a lasting impact on public education. A strong advocate for socialist ideals, Haldeman-Julius left a legacy of intellectual accessibility. He married Anna Marcet Haldeman in 1916, and they raised two daughters, Alice and Josephine. He passed away in 1951. Anna Marcet Haldeman, born June 18, 1887, in Girard, Kansas, was an actress, playwright, feminist, and civil rights advocate. The daughter of physician Henry Winfield Haldeman and social activist Alice Haldeman, she studied at Rockford Seminary and Bryn Mawr College. After her father s death, she shifted to acting, later managing the Bank of Girard and founding The Jolly Club to aid young immigrants. She collaborated with her husband on the 1921 novel Dust. Marcet died on February 13, 1941, leaving a significant impact on social reform and literature....
