Résumé : Dieser Band befasst sich mit Formen und Funktionen der Krise in Michel Houellebecqs Erz?hlprosa. Trotz der Omnipr?senz sowohl individueller als auch kollektiver Krisen im Werk des Gegenwartsschriftstellers wurde der herausragenden Relevanz des Krisenbegriffs f?r Houellebecqs Romane bislang kaum Beachtung geschenkt. Die vorliegende Studie schlie?t diese Forschungsl?cke, indem sie die Krise bei Houellebecq nicht lediglich als ein inhaltliches Motiv identifiziert, sondern dar?ber hinaus zwei grundlegende Funktionen der Krise herausarbeitet: Erstens entwickelt sie ein krisennarratologisches Analysemodell, mit dem sich die Krise als ein auch strukturell in Houellebecqs Romanen verankertes Erz?hlmuster darstellen l?sst. Darauf basierend wird die Krise zweitens als eine spezifische Form von Zeitdiagnose untersucht, mit der Houellebecq an dekadente Krisendiskurse des ausgehenden 19. Jahrhunderts ankn?pft und diese zur depressionistischen Zeitdiagnose einer Postmodernen Dekadenz radikalisiert. Anhand des Krisenbegriffs lassen sich folglich Aussagen ?ber Houellebecqs ambivalente Stellung zwischen Moderne und Postmoderne treffen und zugleich R?ckschl?sse auf m?gliche Gr?nde der oftmals kontroversen Rezeption von Houellebecqs Romanen ziehen.

It takes account of the fact that the fascinating development of Romance literatures and cultures both in Europe and beyond has set in motion worldwide dynamics which continue the great traditions of the Romance world and open up new horizons for them. mimesis works from a transareal understanding of Romance Studies which integrates Romance literatures and cultures both within and outside Europe and which transcends the national and disciplinary boundaries which often conceal the interactions between different traditions and developmentsin Europe and the Americas, in Africa and Asia.
