Résumé :
The sudden imposition of a strict nationwide lockdown in March, 2020, in response to the alarming spread of the Covid 19 global pandemic, took all of India by surprise. Fearful and confused, people, with no previous experience as points of reference, tried valiantly to cope with the crises in their daily lives with varying degrees of success and failure. In Kolkata for a brief visit, Pradeep Dharmapalan found himself confined to a guest house in its Salt Lake locality, with long and seemingly unending days and nights to negotiate. As uncertainty and chaos reigned, severed from the past and confronting impending doom, he turned to the anachronistic sonnet form to rein in his anxiety and helplessness, while trying to make sense of a radically altered reality....
Biographie:
When Pradeep Dharmapalan returned in 2018 to settle in India, having spent three quarters of his life outside the country, he looked forward to a period of relaxation and repose. Events, however, ensured that it was anything but that. And, like so many others, he had not, most definitely, anticipated the terror and tectonic shifts of a deadly pandemic....
