Marryat also authored several notable children's books, including The Children of the New Forest, which remains a classic in children's literature. He was educated at Great Ealing School and later served in the Royal Navy, where his experiences at sea influenced much of his writing. In 1819, he married Catherine Shairp, with whom he had three children: Florence, Frank, and Emilia.
