Suwon Lee is a Korean-Venezuelan visual artist belonging to the recent Venezuelan diaspora. Her photos offer cultural significance and a poignant and intimate glimpse into 20th-century Korea.Mr. & Mrs. offers a captivating journey through time, history, and the intertwined lives of two individuals spanning over fifty years.Featuring a two-sided, innovative design, with each cover serving as both the back and front, symbolizing the duality and interconnectedness of the lives it chronicles.By rescuing photos inherited from her paternal grandparents, Suwon Lee traces two timelines, from the protagonists' youth to their adulthood, in 20th-century Korea. She crafts this two-sided book as a cherished family treasure to honor both her ancestry, as well as the art of vernacular photography. The images are accompanied by a text written by Horacio Fern?ndez, creating a visual narrative where image and text blend and flow seamlessly together.Lee's works are in collections at MoMA New York (USA), Patricia Phelps de Cisneros (USA), CIFO Miami (USA), Banco Mercantil (Venezuela), Museu de Arte Brasileira da Funda??o Armando Alvares Penteado (Brazil) and in various private collections worldwide.
