Présentation A Double Story de George Macdonald Format Broché
- Livre Fantastique
Résumé :
The Lost Princess by George MacDonald is a fairytale that explores the themes of self-awareness, humility, and personal growth. The story revolves around two spoiled little girls, who as a result of their upbringing, possess terrible tempers and are largely unmanageable, displaying arrogance and selfishness in their behavior. The narrative takes a turn when a Wise Woman enters their lives, recognizing their flaws and taking them on a journey where they can learn important life lessons. She helps them discover humility, self-discipline, and empathy. Through their adventure, the girls begin to understand the consequences of their behavior and the value of becoming better, kinder people. MacDonald's The Lost Princess serves as an allegory, illustrating the importance of inner transformation and the wisdom that comes with humility. It encourages readers, particularly young ones, to consider how personal growth and a more grounded sense of self can lead to happiness and harmony in life....
Biographie:
George MacDonald was a Scottish author, poet, and Christian Congregational clergyman. He established himself as a pioneering figure in modern fantasy writing and mentored fellow writer Lewis Carroll. In addition to his fairy stories, MacDonald wrote various works on Christian theology, including sermon collections. George MacDonald was born on December 10, 1824 in Huntly, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. MacDonald was raised in an exceptionally literary household: one of his maternal uncles was a renowned Celtic scholar, editor of the Gaelic Highland Dictionary, and collector of fairy stories and Celtic oral poetry. His paternal grandfather had helped to publish an edition of James Macpherson's Ossian, a contentious epic poem based on the Fenian Cycle of Celtic Mythology that contributed to the birth of European Romanticism. MacDonald's step-uncle was a Shakespeare scholar, while his paternal cousin was also a Celtic intellectual....
