Rasta Got Soul promotes self-esteem. It focuses primarily on Rastafari people in that effort, but its message goes beyond that community. The book ties personal growth with psychological divorce from the world in which one finds himself or herself. That world is Babylon. By definition, it lowers self-esteem by negatively penetrating the mind.
Rasta Got Soul furthermore ties the notion of positive self-esteem to spiritual sanctity. It sights a correlation between spirituality and self-worth. Therein lies the first dimension of revolution. Babylon must be defeated in the psyche and the soul. The man who's personally free, the man who's spiritually sound, is the man ready to change the system for the better. He's one who would act in clear conscience, knowing the deleterious dimensions of Babylon. His sentiment is captured in this book.
Rasta Got Soul is a motivational piece and a change agent. It calls for peace with justice, good over evil, respect of nature, and respect of self. These are timeless values that the book captures in beautiful poetry. It's poetry from Rastafari perspective, but its message endures forever....
