Biographie:
Anthony Trollope (1815-1882) was an English novelist, civil servant, and one of the major writers of the Victorian period. After a difficult youth and early struggles in the Post Office, Trollope built a successful career both as a public servant and as a remarkably disciplined author. His fiction is known for its social range, steady narrative intelligence, dry humour, and unusually practical understanding of money, marriage, ambition, class, politics, church life, and professional duty. Rather than relying on sensational villains or exaggerated heroics, Trollope excelled at showing ordinary moral compromise: the small weaknesses, pressures, and desires by which people shape and damage their lives.Trollope is best known for the Chronicles of Barsetshire and the Palliser novels, two linked fictional worlds that allowed him to examine English society through the church, the aristocracy, Parliament, family networks, and the shifting expectations of Victorian public life. Framley Parsonage, the fourth Barsetshire novel, shows Trollope's gifts at full strength: clerical politics, financial embarrassment, romantic tension, social climbing, family authority, and comic observation all move through a plot that remains humane even when it is sharply critical. His work remains essential for readers of Victorian fiction, English social novels, classic literary realism, political fiction, and nineteenth-century studies....
Sommaire:
Renowned for his Chronicles of Barsetshire series and the Palliser novels, Anthony Trollope was a prolific and renowned English novelist. Trollope was born into a middle-class household, but his early years were characterized by chaotic family dynamics and financial hardships. In spite of these obstacles, he succeeded in his career as a civil servant in the British Post Office, where he spent more than thirty years. Published in 1847, Trollope's debut book, The Macdermots of Ballycloran, marked the beginning of his writing career. He proceeded to produce travelogues, non-fiction books, short stories, and 47 novels during his lifetime. The richly detailed portrayal of Victorian life, the astute observation of human nature, and the examination of contemporary moral and social issues define Trollope's writing. His books frequently include nuanced individuals battling social and personal issues against the backdrop of small-town England or the corridors of political power. Trollope is regarded as one of the greatest Victorian novels because of his realistic depiction of ordinary life, complex narratives, and witty writing....
