    • Résumé :
Resilience Amidst Chaos: A Mother's Journey in Caregiving, Advocacy, and Survival Through Hereditary Angioedema, Strengthened by Military Spouse Commitment and Community Leadership. In Living in the Giving: My HAE Story, the author shares her intimate and inspiring journey through a life marked by selfless caregiving, relentless advocacy, and dogged perseverance. This remarkable narrative traces her path as a mother to two young boys, a devoted military spouse, and a community leader who shouldered the responsibility of caregiving for her child and others diagnosed with a catastrophic rare genetic disorder. The author's harmonious life, blending maternal joy with an unwavering commitment to her spouse's military service, takes an abrupt turn when her son is diagnosed with Hereditary Angioedema (HAE), a rare genetic disorder. Thrust into a world of uncertainty, she finds herself in a relentless race against time, fighting for her son's life and navigating the labyrinth of the healthcare system. Her world revolves around intensive medical care and constant hospital admissions, but her spirit remains as sturdy as ever. She weaves her passion for fitness and wellness into her struggle, promoting safe and effective movement in exercise, even while her world seemed to be crumbling around her. Living in the Giving: My HAE Story is more than just a story about survival. It's a testament to the power of resilience, determination, and the indomitable human spirit. This book serves as a beacon of hope for those who find themselves in the throes of chaos, be it a rare disease or any formidable challenge life throws their way. It is a compelling narrative, showing how strength can be found in the most unexpected places, how hope can emerge from despair, and how love and caring can transform even the bleakest of circumstances. Living in the Giving: My HAE Story is a poignant, powerful, and ultimately uplifting account of one woman's extraordinary journey through life, love, and a terrifying medical reality. This book is a must-read for anyone seeking to understand the power of resilience and the triumph of the human spirit over adversity....

      Biographie:
Donna Kay Davis, an accomplished Air Force wife and dedicated mother, is passionately committed to advocacy for Hereditary Angioedema (HAE) patients. Her journey began as a supportive military wife, but her son's HAE condition led her to become an integral member of the US HAE Association (haea.org). As a pioneer, she played a pivotal role in gaining FDA approval for the first HAE therapy in the United States, earning her the US HAEA Trail Blazer Award. Now semi-retired, she serves as an Armed Public Safety Officer for a hospital in St. Louis, her hometown. An outdoor enthusiast, Donna enjoys hiking with her dogs and fly fishing in Missouri's spring-fed rivers....
