The purpose of this book is to provide a detailed understanding of Emotional Intelligence (EI), explain how to develop EI, and examine how EI can be applied in our personal and professional lives. To understand emotional intelligence, a brief but clear definition is presented followed by a detailed identification and discussion of the components of EI. To see the value in the concept of EI, the importance of EI in various aspects of our lives today is clearly explained with reference to different aspects of life including personal relationship, management, leadership, customer relationship, and conflict resolution. This is followed by the examination of the history of the concept of EI and the main contributors to the evolution of this concept to where it is today. A detailed discussion of the benefits of EI in various aspects of our lives follows in chapter 3 with reference to the areas where this tool can be applied to improve personal, societal, and organizational success. EI enables the creation of a regulated work, family, and societal environment where people can express themselves freely and relate with each other in a friendly, respectful, and empathic manner. This type of environment motivates the individuals and encourages them to perform at their best thereby enhancing the productivity and the overall success of the family, community, and organization. The development of each component of EI follows in chapter 4 covering all areas pertaining to each component. In chapter 5, the focus is on the application of EI in various settings. The application of each component is explained in great detail in the areas of leadership, teamwork, collaboration, personal relationships, and family relationships. The book concludes with a discussion of some practical strategies for strengthening EI in the form practical exercises, seeking feedback, and continuous learning. Biographie:
Dr. Andy Ehinmoro was born in Nigeria. He completed his university education at The University of Ibadan, Oyo state, Nigeria in 1978 where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Petroleum Engineering (1st class honors) in 1981. Dr. Ehinmoro moved to Houston, Texas, USA, where he completed his master's and doctorate degrees at the University of Phoenix in 2008 and 2012, respectively. Dr. Ehinmoro currently lives in Houston, Texas, USA, with his wife and children. He is a devoted Christian and lover of a happy marriage and family life....
