Thornton Jenkins Hains (1866-1953) was an American writer and sea novelist, best known for his maritime adventure stories. Hains was also involved in a notorious legal case in which he was convicted of the murder of William Annis, a crime that deeply impacted his life and career. In addition to his literary works, Hains wrote under the pen name Mayn Clew Garnett.
