Corruption, cops, dark psychology, sadistic cults, human trafficking, occultist secret societies, kink clubs, sex dungeons, serial killers, espionage- the only thing this (slightly tongue in cheek) thriller plays with more than taboo is ,well, lines. Some may say this book goes wayyy over the line in one manner or another: perhaps too human, too personal, too outrageous, too ridiculous, too judgy, too accepting , too hard, too soft, too na?ve, too cynical ... Over the line . Well in fact, that is what this book is really all about, a simple question: How far is too far... where is 'the line'? Despite the plot resembling something between a psychological thriller and a mystery romance novel, Along The Dotted Line is really more of a conceptual thought experiment. At face value, the premise centers primarily around the interweaving of 3 main characters: a nice sadist obsessed with re-framing and pushing the boundaries (whatever they may be), a jaded homicide detective completely addicted to risk for the thrill of risk and the woman entangled with them both. The latter of the three, who also serves as a first-person narrator, is attempting to unravel herself from her growing PTSD - and determining where one ends and the other begins - all while on a rage fueled quest to get justice at (almost) any cost. Along the way she wrestles with one overarching question- the conceptual scaffolding that the plot hangs on: Where is the line? This question comes up not only in how she views those around her and their motivation, but also, her own....
