Part of the team that kept the locomotives of John Cameron active for decades, allowing them to be enjoyed by thousands of enthusiasts and the general public, Mather draws on the recollections of the support teams of 60009 Union of South Africa and The Great Marquess and shares an insight into life behind the scenes. Lavishly illustrated throughout, this is a celebration not only of these impressive feats of engineering - but also the men and women who allowed them to be enjoyed for years after they left service on the main line....
Biographie:
Michael has lived in Fife all his life and is married with a grown up daughter and two granddaughters. He is a bus driver with Stagecoach East Scotland, based at Glenrothes Depot and was a delivery and fork lift driver prior to this. Before taking up driving he worked for 18 years in a grain mill which supplied barley to the Scotch Whisky industry. His interest in railways goes back fifty years and he has been photographing railway subjects for most of this time. He is a member of the support crew which looks after the two main line registered steam locomotives, 60009 Union of South Africa and 61994 The Great Marquess....
