When I decided to put together this collection of stories, we didn't sense that Brown's Park was haunted. It's not. However, some have claimed to have heard and seen ghosts in the park. We feel that if a person looks close enough, cowboys and cowgirls can be seen riding across the hills, or Indians can be seen proudly viewing the valley from a hilltop. Brown's Park has a past that is rich in the lore of the American West. There are many stories that tell of the people that settled in the area, as well as stories of the cowboys and outlaws living and visited or lived here. Retold tales of death. Death that came about because of vigilante furled murder, lynching and alcohol ignited revenge. Outlaws hid in the area because of the remoteness and proximity to the borders of three states...

Wyoming, Colorado, and Utah. The residents turned a blind eye towards the outlaws as long as they behaved themselves in the park. The community felt it was no business of theirs what people did outside the park as long as they abided by the law while they were here. When outlaws didn't behave in the park, lawmen were called upon, posse were formed, and sometimes, the locals even took the law into their own hands....
