Each entry begins with a letter addressing a specific issue and continues with a Scripture passage and prayer, concluding with an interesting or informative passage. The book consists of 30 prayers. He was ordained a Southern Baptist Minister and is presently a minister in the American Baptist Churches, USA. He received his PhD from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky.
