The Wisdom Writers book and project began in the fall of 2021 at the University Charter School in Livingston, Alabama, when Paris Henderson, a sophomore, shared her idea of creating a book to share high school experiences, struggles, and triumphs. By sharing their stories, students hope to help other students, parents, and teachers gain insight and knowledge about the lives of rural teens. Student writers want to help other students understand they aren't alone, and help and hope are available. Wisdom Writers: Volume 3 is a compilation of memoirs from high school students at the University Charter School in Livingston, AL. Focusing on conflicts, fears, relationships, parent expectations, stress and anxiety, and mental exhaustion, students examine and describe their experiences as high school students in a rural area. Proceeds from the book will help students develop writing skills, promote teen mental health awareness, and connect students with published writers and mental health advocates.
