Genevi?ve Behrend was born in Paris in 1881 and died in the United States in 1960. She wrote books and taught Mental Science, a branch of New Thought taught by Thomas Troward. We don't know much about her childhood, except that one of her parents was from Scotland. After her husband died, she went on many trips. She studied Christian Science and met the religion's founder, Mary Baker Eddy, but she eventually stopped believing in it. She met Abdul Baha, whose father had started the Bah? Faith. He told her, You will travel the world looking for the truth, and when you find it, you will tell everyone about it. She later wrote about finding a book of Thomas Troward's talks in her book Your Invisible Power. After studying with Troward, she started a New Thought school in New York City called The School of the Builders around 1915. She ran it herself until 1925. She then started a second New Thought school in Los Angeles. For the next 35 years, she lectured on mental science and New Thought all over North America and did radio shows....

Genevieve Behrend was an American New Thought writer, lecturer, and teacher best known for her practical instruction in mental science, creative visualization, desire, concentration, and the spiritual use of thought. She became the only personal student of Thomas Troward, the influential English judge and metaphysical philosopher whose works helped shape the intellectual foundation of New Thought, mental science, and later law of attraction teaching. Behrend studied closely with Troward and later brought his ideas to a wider public through lectures, lessons, and accessible books.Her best-known works, including Attaining Your Desires and Your Invisible Power, present New Thought principles in a direct and usable form, combining spiritual philosophy with exercises in visualization, affirmation, self-discipline, and constructive thinking. Behrend's writing has remained important to readers interested in manifestation, prosperity consciousness, mental discipline, spiritual self-development, and the classic literature behind modern success and law of attraction movements. Her work stands at the point where metaphysical philosophy becomes practical instruction, making her one of the notable women teachers in early twentieth-century New Thought....
