Présentation No One Will Save Us de Brown, Julie L Format Broché
- Livre Histoire
Résumé : Finalist for the Next Generation Indie Book Award for Fantasy - Finalist for the National Indie Excellence Book Award for African American Fiction - Winner of the Independent Press Award for African American Fiction Imagine a cross between Chinua Achebe's masterpiece Things Fall Apart and the first Black Panther movie-that's how good this novel is.-JJ Amaworo Wilson, author of Nazar? In a time when many women across the world may be fearful of losing their rights and voices, Julie L. Brown provides audiences with a book as a reminder to them to never surrender.-Reader Views Her destiny was certain-until she changed history. In the Queendom of Kana, women rule with strength, wisdom, and unwavering independence. For Princess Chibuike Chi, her future has always been clear: serve her people, protect her homeland, and one day ascend to the throne. But when she is a child, Chi encounters a stranger unlike any she has ever seen-a pale man whose presence signals a shift she cannot yet understand. Ten dry seasons later, as a warrior in Kana's army and heir to the throne, Chi faces a growing threat. Villagers vanish without warning. Ruling families disappear. And one of her closest friends is taken. Refusing to stand by, Chi leads the women warriors on a daring journey across the ocean to Jamestown, Virginia-into a world where men have built an empire on the buying and selling of human lives. What she finds will challenge everything she believes about power, freedom, and destiny. Sweeping, immersive, and deeply thought-provoking, No One Will Save Us is an unforgettable work of alternative history that reimagines the past through the lens of an African queendom-and asks a powerful question: What if those who were taken... fought back? Perfect for readers of Things Fall Apart and fans of Black Panther, this novel explores the resilience it takes to claim freedom-and the courage required to change the course of history.
