Résumé :
An attractive Italian widow living in South Africa has a romantic relationship and finds herself pregnant. The father of the child doesn't stand by her and she's concerned about both her reputation and the damage that the scandal of a child born out of wedlock would inflict on her children. She has no alternative but to abort the pregnancy. The abortion goes wrong and, as a result she dies, leaving behind her four children, Antonio, Giuseppe, Silvia and Lee. This is the story of Lee, the youngest of the orphans, who is fostered by a childless Italian couple living on a vast agricultural farm. It portrays the strength Lee showed while her foster mother took it upon herself to change her destiny. Despite being constantly challenged by life, Lee remained courageous and gentle. Will she ever find happiness, or will the cruel twist of fate change her life dramatically? One cannot but wonder how differently her life would have been had her real mother lived.
