    • Résumé :
Old photographs and mirthful text tell the uniquely stirring story of two hearty, Nature-Loving souls who, in 1979, broke with their mainstream lifestyles and bought a rugged piece of property in the forested hills of West Virginia. First there was a need for an outhouse! Then, since the original farmhouse was in charred, rotting ruins, they turned their focus upon the remains of a stone root cellar that had been built into an earthen hillside. In a race against time, through the late summer and fall, these greenhorn lumberjack-carpenters survived on a shoestring with peanut butter & jelly sandwiches. And Lo and Behold, the dilapidated root cellar, became a sweet little stone cottage. They lived there for six years without electricity or running water. Then went on to build a second more conventional home and raise a family. This is a true story with authentic photos, created for the author's grandmother. She is sharing it with the world in the hopes it will inspire similar dreams, ambitions, adventures. The author believes that human destiny is inexorably linked to this particular planet called Ela by the Cherokee. We are transitioning now and having many birth pangs as we awaken here to our true Loving selves. Discovering our connection with the Mother, Earth, is a critical step humans must take in order to fully become sovereign citizens of the cosmos. And whatever the reader's goals and vision may be, Homespun: A Return to the Land, the author desires to inspire all readers to follow their dreams! This Original Hand Drawn and Photograph Picture Book was originally written for the Author's Grandmother....
