    • Résumé :
Does the Colour Matter? is a thought-provoking and vibrant children's book by Khyati Banker, exploring themes of Self-Love, Positive Self-Talk, Gratitude, Friendship, Power of Voice, Diversity, and Inclusivity. As the first book in the PanishiManishiStoriesSeries, this beautifully illustrated story captivates primary school children, encouraging them to recognise the importance of inner qualities over outward appearances. About the Book: Panishi, an 8-year-old girl, returned home from school feeling sad today, prompting her mother to ask about her day. To her surprise, Panishi suddenly asked her mom, Does COLOUR matter? Does skin COLOUR matter? Intrigued by this unexpected question, her mother engaged her in a deep conversation about what had transpired at school. When her mum inquired about it, she discovered that Charlotte had been making rude comments about Panishi at school. Panishi was hurt by Charlotte's unkind comments, but lacked the confidence to stand up for herself. To teach Panishi the importance of self-love and finding her own voice, Panishi's mum shared a story about the Golden Cat. Through this study, she explained to Panishi how one does not need external validation to feel good about oneself. She emphasised how some people may try to bring others down with unkind remarks, but true strength lies in responding to them with kindness and confidence. With this newfound understanding, Panishi gathered the courage and confronted Charlotte about her remarks. Her friends stood by her side in support. Standing up for herself brought her a sense of relief and confidence. This conversation led them on a transformative journey from grappling with Self-Doubt to embracing Self-Love and understanding the true meaning of Friendship, Gratitude, Diversity, and Inclusivity. Along the way, they discovered the power of Positive Self-Talk. ...
