John McLean, a British-born Japanese-English translator and interpreter, is known as one of Japan's premier interpreters. In addition to his roles as a production editor, emcee, film festival talk-show host, and university associate professor in Hiroshima, his interpretation skills stand out. His diverse clientele includes top athletes like Simone Biles, Kohei Uchimura, and Ai Fukuhara, Japanese actors/models such as Nana Komatsu and Kentaro Sakaguchi, as well as dignitaries like Kazumi Matsui. He has also collaborated with major media outlets like NBC, CBC, and Al Jazeera. Apart from his interpreting expertise, his translation, subtitling, and editing projects with both well established and up-coming Japanese film directors at international film festivals, such as Berlin International Film Festival in collaboration with Japan's Agency for Cultural Affairs, demonstrate his significant impact on the Japanese film industry....
