Over the course of five decades, Jonathan Becker has produced a body of evocative photographic work that amongdocuments lives the twentieth-century beau monde. A protege of legendary Parisian photographer Brassaï and a longtime contributor to Vanity Fair, Becker's work provides a link between fine-art photography and the notion of the photographer as social observer. Bringing together commissioned and personal work, this book reveals Becker's exceptional eye and astute, penetrating sight, positioning him as one of the premier chroniclers of our time. Features more than two hundred color and Maok-and-white photographs, with an introduction by Mark Holborn and an autobiographical text by Jonathan Becker.
Biographie:
Jonathan Becker began his professional career as a portrait photographer for Interview end Town &Country, and In 1990 he became a contributing photographer at Vanity Fair. Mark Holborn is an editor and book designer who has worked internationally with artistis such as Richard Avedon, William Eggleston, Lucian Freud, Irving Penn, and James Turrell.
