Biographie: Louise Flaherty?grew up in Clyde River, Nunavut. Early on, Louise was fortunate to be surrounded by great storytellers. Her grandparents instilled in her a passion for Inuktitut, and an understanding that speaking Inuktitut is a fundamental part of Inuit identity. In 2005, Louise co-founded Inhabit Media Inc., an independent publishing house dedicated to the preservation and promotion of Inuit knowledge and values, and the Inuktitut language. Inhabit Media has since published dozens of books and Inuktitut resources that are used in classrooms throughout Nunavut. Thalita Dol was born a carioca from Rio de Janeiro but now calls Canada her beloved home. She lives with her husband, three kids, and their dog.
She says she started drawing as soon as she could grab a pencil. Drawing has always been her biggest passion. But she can also be found sewing, crocheting, embroidering, carving, and finding delight in any other forms of crafts and handworks. Thalita attended the Parque Lage School of Visual Arts (EAV-RJ) and the University of Fine Arts (EBA - UFRJ) to pursue her development as an artist. Though Brazil had no degrees available in Illustration, learning about the foundations of art was a great pathway to develop her illustration career. She has worked illustrating for animation, for fashion and for school books in Brazil. In 2017 she moved with her family to Canada, to build her career as a picture book illustrator. Here, she felt right at home and published several pictured books, working on her dream career and growing with each new book.
