Présentation Alzheimer's Disease de Thomas, Elizabeth Rosalind Format Relié

Résumé : Alzheimer's Disease (AD) is one of the common forms of Dementia and it is a major cause of concern all over the world. It is a neurodegenerative disorder which has been playing the role of 'the angel of slow death' for more than a century. Although much research has been carried in many parts of the world for the last several decades but no head way has been made as yet in finding a cure for this disease. This book is a humble attempt to understand and unravel the mystery of Alzheimer's Disease under the perspective of amyloid cascade hypothesis. Since most of the drugs that are used are either symptomatic drugs or anti-psychotic drugs, the under lying disease is yet to be treated and cured. The only successful therapy that could ease the disease and brighten the course of turn in life is palliative care. No one is immune to this disease and technically, as life progresses; the dice is in the Maker's hand wherein our fate of being a victim for this fateful disease is decided. Therefore, the need of the hour is more investment for research on AD. This book is the revised and modified version of the doctoral research undertaken by the author during 2015-18 at the Laboratory of Molecular Neurosciences, KUST, Kunming, China. This book will be of great interest to scholars and researchers of biotechnology and medical research particularly on gerontology. It will especially benefit the medical research institutes and care givers at the Elders Home.
