Présentation Haunting Voices de Vivian Avraamidou Ploumbis Format Broché
- Livre Manga
Résumé :
In Vivian Avraamidou Ploumbis' new short story collection, she delves into the tragic situation of her hometown of Famagusta, Cyprus, offering a desperate cry to humanity to understand where discrimination and nationalism may lead. Haunting Voices is a new collection of 73 short stories by accomplished author Vivian Avraamidou Ploumbis which brings to light the tragedy and destruction of Famagusta in the eastern part of Cyprus. After intense bombing by the Turkish army during the invasion in 1974, Famagusta's inhabitants fled before the advancing Turkish troops that captured the town could capture them as well. The Turkish army then looted Varosha, an extensive part of the city, and declared it as a Forbidden Zone before sealing it off to the world. Only recently in the summer of 2020 did the status change of a small portion of Varosha - which is now exhibited as a tourist attraction. Avraamidou Ploumbis became inspired by the photographs that either depict details of the debris that one sees in Varosha's ghost town or awaken memories of her early years - compelling her to write the short stories in this collection. Any sensitive, democratic, and just person who believes in brotherhood between nations will find resonating values and deep meaning in the stories Avraamidou Ploumbis writes. Through her words, readers will see how nationalism can bring the human race to their knees and affect generations of people in the most devastating ways....
