      • Résumé :
Fate never asks your opinion... Growing up in a town constantly at war with elves, Johnny wants to be a knight like his father, but tragedy and intrigue interfere. After he meets an elf, and false accusations draw unwanted attention, he escapes by becoming an apprentice to a powerful wizard. He soon learns he has the most feared talent of all, Metamancy, the magic of altering magic. In the deadly serious world of wizards, revealing his talent for Metamancy would place a target on his back. It seems he's jumped from the frying pan into the fire, but with his magical abilities unlocked, there's no going back. This book introduces a brand new world, and begins to reveal a detailed new magic system. Though this world will have some familiar elements (elves, goblins, wizards), this young wizard treads a fundamentally different path versus the likes of Garion, Pug, Rand, or Harry and not all is as it initially seems. The writing style is clear... descriptive... easy to understand. A fun fantasy adventure... recommended [young adult novel] - Fantasy Fiction Fanatics Contains: Wizards, Mages, Archmage, Elves, Undead, Imps, Pegasus, Knights, Fateful Tragedy, Dastardly Manipulation, Internal Struggles, Love Interest, and a Mysterious Unknown Player Does not contain: Whiny Characters, Cliff-hanger Chapters, Unedited Text, Pointless Profanity, Needless Gore, Explicit Romance Note: This is the beginning of an epic story, not just a collection of magical battles. If you are only interested in combat or a numerically tracked skill progression, this is not the book you are looking for. (Cover Art by Matt Stawicki)...

        Sommaire:
William I. Zard is the pen name for Patrick G. Heck's fantasy fiction writing. He was born in Ohio but moved to Massachusetts at the age of ten. His originally intended career was Biology, and he earned a Bachelors and a Masters in Biology at Clark University and S. U. N. Y. Buffalo. He caught the writing bug during the final project for his creative writing class at Clark University. Since the assignment was to write a short story, and his writing quickly expanded to twenty-seven pages with a lame, tacked-on ending, it wasn't much of a success as a final project. However, he continued reading and writing and building a world for his characters and their story for many years. Eventually, he had so many ideas he wanted to share that he finally got serious about publishing his work. Nine months later, Metamancer was finished and ready for publication. His writing is influenced by a wide variety of authors. The strongest influences would be Ursula K. LeGuin, David Eddings, Glen Cook, and Dragonlance Chronicles/Legends. Robert Jordon is also a big influence, though in both positive and negative ways. He also admires Patrick Rothfuss's work but not his publication schedule. In addition to science, computers, and fiction, he also enjoys autocross racing, computer games, the game of Go, and flying airplanes....
