      • Résumé :
This book is about the sh*t. The bad stuff. The things that happen to people with autoimmune disease when no one else is paying attention. This is my follow-up to The Marvelous Transformation: Living Well with Autoimmune Disease (TMT) in which I explored how I've managed to have a happy life despite being ill. However, I want to be very clear that this is not an extension of The Marvelous Transformation; it is almost its inverse. While still being written with the intent to help you, I want to enlighten you, lighten your load, maybe even to entertain while shedding light on the BS of autoimmune disease. The problem with, or maybe the beauty of, the passage of time, is that I am not the same person, today, as I was when I wrote TMT. I am irrecoverably changed by my illness, and I don't think this is always for the better. I do not always try to find the bright side. I do not always try to find the positive way out of my negative thoughts, and I certainly do not hide from the dark thoughts and feelings that accompany chronic illness. This book is the flip side of the TMT coin. It will expose the BS because being sick sucks.

        Biographie:
Emily lives in Minnesota where she and Scott have discovered they actually really like Minnesota's winters! She cannot believe Sage and Rickey are all grown up, River is still her annoying companion, and that her dermatomyositis won't go away! Emily has a BA in Psychology and a Juris Doctor, but because of her autoimmune disease they are mostly good for arguing politics and human rights online, oh, and writing books. When she isn't housebound in pain, she loves going for walks in the fresh Minnesota air with her cute hubby, looking at the beautiful flowers in her garden, drinking coffee on her deck, fighting with the chipmunk in her garden that hates her, and talking to friends and loved ones online and on the phone. She is a voracious reader and has already read over 65 books in 2023. Her kids and her husband are her love and joy. Emily is the author of The Marvelous Transformation: Living Well with Autoimmune Disease (Central Recovery Press, 2015). She is also the co-author of Conversations with God for Parents with Neale Donald Walsch and Laurie Lankins Farley (Rainbow Ridge, 2015), Parenting through Divinity with Laurie Lankins Farley (Waterside Productions, 2018), and is sole author of the With My Child Series of children's books: It's a Beautiful Day for Yoga and It's a Beautiful Day for a Walk (Beautiful Day Publishing, 2009 and 2010, respectively).
