Résumé :
What are the keys to making teachers happy, and why does it matter? In today's educational landscape, teachers are facing unprecedented challenges. The demands of their profession continue to increase while resources continue to decrease. Exhaustion and burnout are taking a toll on teacher well-being, threatening the stability of our schools. A global pandemic has only intensified these struggles, leading many teachers to consider leaving the profession. Great principals use happiness to create a thriving culture Drawing from years of experience as a teacher and principal, Erika Garcia-Niles understands the pressing need to reshape leadership practices to better serve our educators. In Hacking School Leadership, she presents a framework for leadership that is poised to shift how you approach school administration. Hacking School Leadership offers practical strategies, heartfelt insights, and evidence-based research to help you create a supportive, empowering, and inspiring environment for your teachers. By centering your leadership on the needs of your staff, you can reignite their passion for teaching, rebuild trust, and establish a strong sense of community within your school. Inside, you'll discover:What makes teachers happy The importance of providing time, trust, and resources to teachers How to listen, appreciate, and support your staff effectively The value of drawing upon your experiences as a teacher to inform your leadership decisions Strategies for building trust, empathy, and empowerment among your educators Ways to eliminate distractions and address the challenges faced by teachers head-on The critical role of authenticity and personalization in teacher-centered leadership Practical hacks and actionable steps to implement the principles of teacher-centered leadership in your school Through relatable anecdotes, Garcia-Niles brings her experiences as a teacher and leader to life, making this book both insightful and engaging. Biographie:
Erika Garcia-Niles is a principal in St. Louis, Missouri. Prior to serving as principal, Erika served as an elementary and middle school teacher, literacy coach, math specialist, and instructional coordinator. As a teacher, Erika has won multiple awards and achieved National Board Certification. However, what she is most proud of are the relationships she has developed with students, staff, and the communities in which she has served.Erika taught for 20 years before making the jump into administration. She credits her tenure as a teacher for the interest she has in supporting educators. As part of her doctoral studies at University of Missouri, St. Louis, Erika explored what teachers want from a principal in order to be successful and whether the COVID-19 pandemic impacted teachers' expectations of a principal. When Erika isn't busy serving her staff, she is a proud soccer mom and wife. Follow Erika on Twitter @flyingmonkey13
