Thirteen-year-old Mitzie Collins makes a desperate gamble in order to survive in a world full of hungry undead. She uses a childhood scar to pretend to be immune to the Gee-bug so that those who are more capable will see to her continued existence. It doesn't take long for Mitzie to realize she's made a horrific mistake and people will die because of her dishonesty. An eclectic cast of characters makes The Bite a story that's as deep and thoughtful as it is brutal. The situations they get into, and occasionally out of, are as varied as the characters themselves. Once you dig your teeth into this story you won't want to let go until you've chewed all the way through to the end....
Biographie:
Jim X Dodge is a Florida native who has been writing seriously for over thirty years. During that time he has written poetry/song lyrics, flash fiction, short stories, novellas and even a couple of novels. He also had a years- long stint as an entertainment journalist where he wrote dozens of reviews, interviews, and features, mostly for UK- based zine Mass Movement (http://massmovement.co.uk). He even ran Zero Signal fanzine with friends for about a year, a labor-intensive undertaking that ended with a mix of relief and disappointment.Though there have been lulls in his career, he inevitably returned to writing as his main creative source (though there was that one time where he spent hundreds of hours, and dollars, turning old baseball bats into post- apocalyptic weapons). While you can't please everybody, more people like his work than dislike it, so there's that. If you've made it far enough in this book to read this biography that probably means you enjoyed it and should immediately purchase his other releases via the mighty Earth Island Books (www.earthislandbooks.com). These include Theta House and The Bite as well as the upcoming bizarro-noir crime-drama Erogenous Jones: Private Dicktective, due to hit shelves later this year....
