Second Chance is a story of a young man, Trey Barry, who attempts to end his life after enduring insatiable bullying and mortified public shaming. Although he survives jumping 180 feet from the Skyway Bridge into the Tampa Bay waters, his bruised and battered body and fragile emotional and morose state present daunting challenges for him to recover and lead a normal life. Trey's recovery goes from bad to worse as he is placed in a Dr. Phil type Wilderness Program and subjected to experimental psychological practices. Along the way, he is transformed from pacifist to aggressor. But his family and faith in God help him find his way for a new beginning and second chance....

Second Chance is Mr. Keough's second novel. He derives satisfaction in writing fiction that has a redemptive message for readers to consider. He intends to embark on a third novel in the coming year. In many respects, he is going back to the future by re-establishing his writing career. In his early professional life, He was a journalist, speech writer, and media relations liaison. In 1995, he was the recipient of Newsweek's Grand Gold Award for Excellence in News Writing. He also has received other awards in news writing from the Council for Advancement and Support for Education. But most of his professional work for nearly 27 years has been as a registered lobbyist engaged in education policy and budgetary matters in Florida and Ohio. Mr. Keough is a husband and father of five children-Joel, Ryan, Kyle, Mary Kate, and Sara Beth-and two daughters-in-law, Emily and Catherine. He and his wife, Jackie, have been married for nearly 40 years. And last but not least, he is an avid boater who has logged thousands of miles cruising on waterways from Lake Erie to the Gulf of Mexico, to the Florida Keys and Bimini/Bahamas.
