Résumé :
A Study in Scarlet is the first novel featuring the iconic detective Sherlock Holmes, written by Arthur Conan Doyle. The story is narrated by Dr. John Watson, a war veteran who becomes Holmes' roommate and chronicler. The novel is divided into two parts. In the first part, Watson meets Holmes and is introduced to his evolving methods of deduction. They are soon called to investigate a mysterious murder in an empty house in Brixton, where a man named Enoch Drebber is found dead under puzzling circumstances. Holmes' keen observation skills and logical reasoning lead him to deduce various details about the murderer, including his height, age, and habits. The second part of the novel shifts to the backstory of the crime, revealing a tale of love, revenge, and justice set against the backdrop of the American West and the Mormon community.
