Jordan is the model Baptist kid, following in his parents' footsteps by living the word of Christ. As he nears adolescence, a growing understanding of sin coincides with an undeniable pattern of same-sex attraction. Genesis is a memoir that reveals the traumas and trials of being gay within the church. It is a recollection of a gender identity battle fueled by years of teaching that being gay is wrong accompanied by forced gender role norms. This account starts a conversation about gender identity and LGBTQ+ acceptance in the church. The road is long, but new patterns of thinking are achieved, along with the realization that no one is outside of God's love.
