Alzheimer's: Be Aware and Prepared (BAP) shifts the focus from the patient's behavior to the emotional needs of the caregiver and family. The three stages of Alzheimer's describe a patient's progression through mild, moderate, and severe stages. For the caregiver, BAP introduces the Scholly Stages: the Most Important, the Most Demanding, and the Most Difficult stages of caregiving. BAP merges studied data from various sources to help create personal solutions for the anxieties of caregiving. Seemingly impossible situations can be redirected to generate more positive results. It explains the relationship between the brain, body, and Alzheimer's, and helps navigate the necessity of early planning. BAP identifies the actions needed in order to become aware and prepared, and encourages all ages to be mindful. BAP becomes a solid reference book along the way. Everyone-children, grandchildren, young adults, parents-can benefit from the guidance offered in BAP. Being a caregiver is definitely a challenge, but it can alter your life in the best possible way, by strengthening you inside.
Biographie:
Elaine Scholly lives in Dallas, Texas, where she is a professional historical storyteller and speaker. For the past seven years, she's also been an active volunteer with the Alzheimer's Association: conducting workshops, leading support groups, and educating the public about this complex disease. As an AIM Ambassador from 2018-2020, she helped promote Alzheimer's legislation to state and federal representatives. In 2019, she received the North Texas Chapter's CARES AWARD for her commitment to advocacy, research, education, and support. Elaine's commitment to writing BAP provides a new awareness of caregiving to a broader audience. She eases our fears with reliable information and encourages personal growth and self-awareness, useful tools throughout life.
