Résumé :
When Darin Oduya's squadron is recalled from SEAL Team Six, precious time remains for the hostages facing certain death on the Adventurer, the largest cruise ship in its class. A rookie SEAL, a retired SEAL onboard the Adventurer, and a cell tower technician must collaborate swiftly to thwart the cruise ship takeover by terrorists in the Caribbean and an agricultural disaster in the Midwest. FrogFlyer engages the reader from a SEAL Team Six recall to the operation's stunning conclusion, with an immersive introduction into the world of Naval Special Operations. This fast-paced military thriller is in the vein of Clive Cussler's Raise the Titanic, with a science fiction twist. ...
Biographie:
David Lawrence Cascio writes military science fiction thrillers based on his professional background. His stories burst with technical expertise grounded in a distinguished Naval career as a SEAL and pilot. Always with a sci-fi twist, his experience elevates the characters, both civilian and military, for the reader's enjoyment.Born in Troy, New York, David L. Cascio grew up in his hometown of Waterford, Connecticut. After high school, he entered the Delayed Entry Program in the U.S. Navy. While waiting to serve, he trained as a pipe fitter at General Dynamics, Groton, Connecticut, the submarine capitol of the world. David entered bootcamp in April 1984 and decided to conquer BUD/S (Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL) training. After 26 weeks of arduous effort, David graduated with 17 others in class 132 on May 3rd, 1985, and was assigned to SEAL Team Four. Accumulating five years of training all over the U.S. and deploying extensively to Central and South America and the Caribbean, he honed his skills allowing him to interview for Green Team and become a member of SEAL Team Six in 1989. Fresh into the chute, his first combat action, David deployed to Panama on Operation Just Cause in December of 1989. The next few years he trained in countries around the world to support missions of the elite command. David maintained his status as LPO (Leading Petty Officer) then was elevated to Boat Crew Leader culminating in 1993 with the distinction of Sailor of the Year. He maintained his tip of the spear status as a mission orientated SEAL until he interviewed and was accepted to become part of the Pilot Cell in 1999. David completed his Commercial Instrument Multi-Engine ratings and flew all types of single and multi-engine turbine aircraft, including a Bell Long Ranger helicopter. He amassed nearly 3,000 hours of flight time and retired as a Senior Chief Petty Officer in 2004. Under the GI bill, he landed as civilian honor graduate of Aviation Maintenance school in Chesapeake, Virginia, in 2013, which added to his repertoire of knowledge. The two-year curriculum enhanced his unique depth of authentically writing the genre he enjoys. In 2014, David responded to a flyer posted by The Muse Writers Center, a non-profit literary arts center in Norfolk, Virginia. Intrigued by the writing classes available, and believing he had a story to tell, David signed up. Enrolled in fiction classes and workshops for the past seven years, he made strides to hone his craft while relishing a newfound art. He participated in the National Endowment for the Art's funded veteran writing project at The Muse and proceeded to attend fiction master classes every semester since 2015. His first novel, FrogFlyer, is in the vein of Clive Cussler's, Raise the Titanic, complete with a science fiction twist. He is currently working on his second novel while hosting at the Muse Writer's Center.David has two children, two grandchildren, and continues to write in Virginia Beach where he has lived since 1985.
