Résumé :
What if the devil himself decided to pen his thoughts? Satan's Diary by Leonid Andreyev offers an insightful glimpse into the mind of the fallen angel, exploring themes of temptation, morality, and the human condition. Set against the backdrop of early 20th-century Europe, this narrative unfolds through the diary entries of Satan, who has taken human form to experience life on Earth. As he navigates the complexities of human emotions and societal norms, readers are drawn into a world where the lines between good and evil blur. Andreyev, known for his psychological depth and existential themes, crafts a story that challenges perceptions and invites introspection. Through Satan's interactions and observations, the novel delves into the nature of change, love, and the eternal struggle between light and darkness. By presenting a narrative from such an unconventional perspective, the book encourages readers to question their own beliefs and the world around them....

Andreyev eventually gave up his law practice, fast becoming a literary celebrity, and the two writers remained friends for many years to come. Through Gorky, Andreyev became a member of the Moscow Sreda literary group, and published many of his works in Gorky's Znanie collections....
