This textbook discusses the development and analysis of polygeneration systems to generate electricity, fresh water, hot air, cold air, and hot water from a source of energy. Topics covered in this book are desalination with no pressure or vacuum components; combined use of refrigerator and heat pump with a vapor compression refrigeration (VCR) cycle; binary fluid polygeneration; compact units; and flexible operation. It covers four polygeneration configurations, viz. binary fluid polygeneration with single-stage HDH, binary fluid polygeneration with double-stage HDH, heat pump polygeneration with single-stage HDH, and heat pump polygeneration with double-stage polygeneration. End-of-chapter problems and solved examples aid in self learning of the students. The textbook is useful for graduate and advanced graduate students studying courses such as polygeneration, sustainable energy, power generation, and alike. This book is also a useful supplementary text for researchers influid dynamics, thermal engineering, and allied fields.

Biographie:

Dr. Tangellapalli Srinivas is Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar National Institute of Technology, Jalandhar, Punjab, India. He previously worked as Professor at Vellore Institute of Technology's School of Mechanical Engineering, CO2 Research and Green Technologies Centre, Tamil Nadu. He is also associated with Gudlavalleru Engineering College in Andhra Pradesh. He received his Ph.D. from JNT University College of Engineering, Hyderabad, Telangana, in 2008 and was Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT), Canada, in 2010 and 2013. He is Principal Investigator for research projects funded by CSIR, SERB, SERB (IMPRINT), and DST. He has one granted patent and two copyrights to his credit and has published five patents. He has authored 4 full books, 15 chapters, 125 journal publications, and 90 conference proceedings. He serves on the editorial boards of the journals Recent Innovations inChemical Engineering and Applied Solar Energy (Springer).
